Our Story
Our story begins in Brazil, where we witnessed the first cases of poverty that pushed us to intervene. Our commitment and our involvement in the country was so deep that the name Aleimar was choses in memory of one of the first children we helped, who tragically lost his life in a clash with the local police.
Here are some of the milestones of our story, which lasts from more than 30 years.
1983
A group is formed to support people in need in Brazil, without any specific projects but by organizing fundraisers and events.
1988
The group gives itself a structure and headquarters, developing some multi-year projects to carry out in Brazil and the Philippines.
1993
The group becomes an officially registered non-profit. The first support programs are launched, with projects in Congo, Benin, Palestine, Colombia and Croatia.
1996
The first missions are launched in India, Kenya and Zambia.
2003
Aleimar begins to collaborate with other non-profits. The Tuendelee Foundation is born in Italy to help struggling mothers and children.
2004
Aleimar ONG is founded in Benin, and the organization becomes part of the FORUM SAD.
2008
The first projects are launched in Lebanon and Eritrea.
2013
Aleimar becomes member of the Italian Institute for Donation (Istituto Italiano della Donazione).
2014
Missions are begun in Malawi.
2017
Audirevi, an external audit company, audits the financial statements.
2018
New projects are launched in Ghana, Ethiopia and Kenya.
